We are proud to report the successful completion of comprehensive dry-docking services for the vessel MISS MEGAN at our state-of-the-art facility. This extensive process, spanning over eight days, involved a range of critical maintenance, repair, and restoration activities to ensure the vessel’s continued safety and operational efficiency.
Summary of Work Executed
1. Hull and Surface Preparations
- Hull Scraping and Washing: Cleaned from waterline to keel, covering 525m² to remove marine growth and contaminants.
- Sandblasting: Treated 827.04m² from keel to bulwarks, achieving SA1.0 and SA2.5 standards for all corroded areas.
- Spot Blasting: Addressed the superstructure for targeted corrosion removal.
- Painting: Applied primer and spray-painted:
- Two coats of primer from keel to bulwarks.
- One coat of ocean blue paint from waterline to bulwarks (302.04m²).
- One coat of black anti-fouling paint from waterline to keel (525m²).
2. Detail Repainting
- Enhanced visibility and aesthetics by repainting:
- The 12-inch white band.
- Vessel name in three locations.
- Draft marks in four locations.
- The IMO number in one area.
- Plimsoll mark in two areas.
- Port of registry in one area.
- Bow thruster markings in two areas.
3. Anchor and Tire Management
- Anchor Chain Work: Ranged, pressure washed, sandblasted, and painted to ensure integrity.
- Tires: Removed and reinstalled tires positioned around the vessel for protection.
4. Anode Replacement
- Replaced 42 anodes, each weighing 10 kg, to protect the hull from corrosion.
Marine Fittings and Mechanical Overhaul
5. Sea Chest and Valve Operations
- Sea Chest Gratings: Removed, cleaned, and painted for optimal water intake.
- Valves: Tested two sea chest valves (one 4” butterfly and one 8” valve); removed and replaced both.
6. Propeller and Tail Shaft Servicing
- Bow Thruster: Gratings removed and reinstalled, propeller polished.
- Port and Starboard Propellers: Polished for enhanced performance.
- Tail Shaft Work: Port and starboard side tail shafts and bushings were removed, reinstalled, and adjusted.
- Rudder Stock: Port side rudder stock bushing removed and reinstalled; starboard bushing replaced.
Welding and Fabrication Achievements
7. Structural Fabrication
Keel Doubler (Slap-On): Fabricated and welded for added durability.
Gunwale Pipes and Deck Steps: Cropped, fabricated, and welded for reinforced structure.
