At Guyana Port Inc., the MV SOLFJORD underwent a complete dry dock refurbishment after arriving on November 10th, 2024 under Vivek Paul Shipping Inc. The project focused on restoring performance, improving efficiency, and extending the vessel’s service life.
Hull Cleaning & Protection
The vessel’s hull was heavily affected by marine growth and corrosion. Our team carried out high-pressure washing, sandblasting, and full surface preparation before applying protective primer and anti-fouling coatings. This restored efficiency and improved long-term durability.
Mechanical & System Repairs
Critical systems including the sea chest, bow thruster grills, valves, and propellers were fully serviced. Each component was repaired, cleaned, and restored to ensure safe and reliable operation at sea.
Structural Reinforcement
Key structural works included repair of the bilge keel, rope guard restoration, and installation of a new sea suction pipe. These upgrades strengthened stability and operational safety.
Final Touches & Inspection
The final phase included anode replacement, repainting of markings, IMO number refresh, and ultrasonic thickness testing (UTM) to confirm structural integrity.
Conclusion
The MV SOLFJORD now leaves dry dock fully restored, enhanced, and ready for reliable performance at sea.
